My first knit project (kinda)

My first knit project that actually fit me—and one I would wear outside! This shrug features a beautiful wavy knit stitch in a blue ombré yarn.

Yarn: Hayfield Spirit DK in Melody
Needles: 10mm wooden needles

I freehanded the overall design, using a written tutorial to learn the wavy knit stitch and then improvising the construction of the shrug. The stitching is a bit uneven, but it holds a lot of sentimental value. One day, I’d love to remake it now that I have more knitting experience.

Cast on a multiple of 8 sts plus 2. (Try 50 sts.)
Row 1 Knit.
Row 2 Knit.

Row 6 Knit all sts, dropping the extra loops.
Row 7 Knit.
Row 8 Knit.
Row 9 KW3, KW3, *KW2, KW2, K1, K1, KW2, KW2, KW3, KW3; rep from * to end of row.
Row 10 Knit all sts, dropping the extra loops.**

Repeat from ** to ** to form the pattern.

Abbreviations
